Kashmiri Pandits Takes Out Rally Through Srinagar City on Janmashtami

Srinagar 30 August (KNB): On the occasion of Janmashtami, observed by Hindus annually on the birth day of Lord Krishna, hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits Monday took out a rally from Habba Kadal to Lal Chowk to celebrate the auspicious event. 

During the rally, Kashmiri Pandits were seen chanting religious slogans and prayers by trailing behind a pick up vehicle decorated with garlands and flowers. 

“From the year of 2007 we have been continuously taking out rallies on the Janmashtami, a birthday of Lord Krishna. It is now after two years since covid19 breakout we have again taken out rally. On this day, we pray to God that the world gets free from covid and our brotherhood will continue ahead,” said one of the Kahmiri Pandits during the Janmashtami rally. 

Replying to a question from reporters, he said that they have full support of both the administration and the people. 

“The kind of brotherhood that is in Kashmir does not exist elsewhere in the world,” he said, adding that he appeals to all their brothers living outside to come to Kashmir and see the brotherhood here. 

It is pertinent to mention that LG Manoj Sinha also in the morning greeted people on the occasion of Janmashtami and added in his tweet besides other part that “May this Janmashtami strengthen our faith in the goodness of mankind, inspire us to lead a virtuous life, and usher in happiness, prosperity and well-being of all. We should renew our commitment to Lord Krishna’s ideals on this occasion.” (KNB)
