Srinagar 30 August: (KNB)  Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari on Monday said that he did not understand what had been espoused by PAGD as its agenda.

Altaf Bukhari while holding a presser after the party’s senior leaders’ meeting here, said there have been different statements issued from different platforms of late, and as far as PAGD is concerned, Apni Party is not able to understand which thing has been carried by the conglomerate as its agenda.

He said that PAGD did not mention anything about the revocation of Article 370 and 35A in the 19 opposition parties meeting’s statement. “Should we think that they (PAGD) have given up this demand (Article 370 and 35A),” said Altaf Bukhari.

He further said that he wanted to give assurance to the people of J&K that the Apni party would not give up on Article 370, which incorporated the basic identity besides other protections related to different things. He also pinned his hopes on the Supreme Court for the restoration of Article 370.

Bukhari said that before starting the electoral process, the Apni party demanded the restoration of Statehood. “As the President of India recently came here and said that democracy has the capacity to reconcile the differences, which we agree upon and based on that we think the beginning should be done by restoration of Statehood, followed by elections and the solution to people’s miseries,” Bukhari said.

He also said that the delimitation process should be completed quickly and also sought an “implementable” employment package for the youth. Bukhari also said that in order to curb corruption, the action should be started from the political parties and not by mere arresting of low-rung officers.

However, he also impressed upon the resolving of issues related to daily wagers, mining, PSU employee’s pending salaries and others. Bukhari also expressed his concern over JK Cement being brought to a halt so that it would be taken over by outsiders, which he said is one of the deliberate attempts being pursued.

Bukhari also said that as the political process is going to start, an atmosphere should be created in which all can freely participate and convey their messages.(KNB)
