Srinagar 24 September (KNB): A Kashmiri Pandit on Friday alleged that his land, which falls in South Kashmir’s Kulgam, has been illegally occupied by a family for a long time and said that neither administration nor the police is taking any action against it.

The Kashmiri Pandit, who introduced himself as Kushal Bhat, said that he came to Kashmir in 2008 to reclaim his house, land and to work with youth of the valley to enable a change on the ground.

During Bhat’s arrival here, his lands were allegedly under an illegal occupation of some family, whom he termed as ‘goons’. He said that the family has been continuously harassing him and had received death threats as well from them.

“My land is in Kulgam and you know about the present situation of the district, but still there is no action either by the administration or by the police,” said Bhat, adding, “In one of the orders, it is said that the case has been solved successfully by revenue officials and in future if i require any kind of help from the police it will be provided to me. When I apply for help given the death threats from the family, both administration and police seem to be indifferent and no action is being taken against those people.”

Bhat said that without the help from the locals, his survival would have been very impossible. “I filed a complaint in the Governance grievance cell and no result was obtained from that. At present, those illegal occupiers are harvesting from my land and nothing is being done despite lodging FIRs and reports,” said the Kashmiri Pandit.

Questioning the administration, Bhat said that under the J&K Migrant Property Act, DC is supposed to be the custodian of the migrant property. He alleged that not a single DC is complying with it.

He also appealed to administration and LG to intervene into the matter and said that other Hindu, Muslim and Sikh Kashmiris too are facing the same problem in the present times. (KNB)
