Srinagar 8 May (KNB): Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) officer Dr Shamim Ahmad Wani died of Covid19 at Government Medical College, Jammu on Saturday morning.
Wani was special secretary to the government, finance department and had held the post of DC Kulgam. As per reports, the deceased officer had tested positive for Covid19 on Thursday.
He was 54 years old and was a batch-1999 KAS officer, serving to the people of UT.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his heartfelt condolences on the demise of senior KAS officer, Dr. Shamim Ahmad Wani.
“He was a dedicated officer who served the UT with distinction in various capacities. May God give strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss,” LG Said.
The KAS officer died at the time when the J&K UT is witnessing a surge in Covid19 cases and the mortality rate. (KNB)
