Junaid Azim Mattu Elected as Mayor of Srinagar

Srinagar 25 November (KNB): Junaid Azim Mattu has won the election for the post of Mayor of Srinagar, which was conducted at the SMC Corporator Hall today.

As per the Kashmir News Bureau reports, Mattu has proved the majority by 44 votes.
While as ex-deputy Mayor Sheikh Imran has got 7 votes in the election and other 26 walked out during the process.

Pertinently, On July 15, the government differed elections by more than one month following the amendment rules. In June former Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu had failed to show a majority in a no-confidence motion filed against him. However, amid Covid-19 pandemic, the elections were deferred to three months.
