Srinagar 27 January (KNB): An “emergency meeting” of the senior leadership of JKNPP was held in Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh to find out the effects of Republic Day in the “J&K State”, which is now undergoing Governor Rule for three years.

A statement issued here said that presiding over a Panthers Party senior leadership today’s online meeting was held by its President, Prof. Bhim Singh with the leadership of Kashmir province, Jammu Pradesh and some noted leaders of Ladakh.

Prof. Bhim Singh described that the Republic Day was observed as a “dark day” by the leadership in J&K forcing people of J&K to find out what was the Republic Day of India in J&K and how people were forced to retire from their homes as it appeared as a dark day for everybody.

“Roads closed, streets shut, newspapers, all publications had to go without their printing work. Was it a boycott or Republic Day of the people particularly in the UTs of J&K and Ladakh?” reads the statement.

The Panthers Party with several leaders had a get-together with open discussion on the Republic Day of India which was observed in the UTs as a “sad day”.

“Some of the news published in the uncontrolled media in J&K carried unfortunately and unwanted rather undesirable comments about the day to day commentaries, criminal activities and the like undesirable elements. It appears that the entire Republic Day was in the control of criminals, undesirable elements and the like. No Republic Day celebrations, no street was shining, there was no galore in the streets, in the villages or in the public. Did it look like Republic Day in J&K asked this question to the entire media and the rulers of J&K?” the statement reads.

Prof. Bhim Singh made a strong appeal to the President of India, Ramnath Kovind to withdraw the Governor Rule and restore the Statehood of J&K immediately so that children of J&K and Ladakh shall also celebrate days like Republic Day and others and every resident of J&K shall feel honourable and free citizen of the State of J&K once again.
