Srinagar, June 25 (KNB): The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) on Thursday suspended its President, Javid Ahmed Khatab, with immediate effect after a resolution seeking his suspension was approved by a majority of the Apex Council members.
According to an official notification issued by the JKCA, the resolution was circulated among the eligible members of the Apex Council in accordance with Rule 23(i) of the Association’s Constitution. As the matter pertained to the conduct and suspension of the President, the resolution was not circulated to him and was instead placed before the remaining nine members.
The notification stated that eight of the nine members communicated their approval of the resolution, while one member did not convey any decision. Consequently, the resolution was passed by a majority of 8:0.
“In terms of the said resolution, Sh. Javid Ahmed Khatab, President, Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association, has been suspended with immediate effect,” the notification reads.
The JKCA further directed all officers, employees, affiliated units and functionaries of the Association to take necessary steps for implementation of the resolution in accordance with the Constitution of the JKCA.
The resolution will be placed before the next meeting of the Apex Council for ratification, the notification added. (KNB)
