Srinagar 28 Aug(KNB): Kashmir is set to witness a major cricket extravaganza next week, with six of J&K’s top teams gearing up to enthral fans in the J&K Super Cup at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar.
The six-team league will feature fan-favourite sides Sultan Warriors Baramulla, Royal Goodwill Cricket Club, Valley Stars Ganderbal, Bhat Lions Kupwara, Sopore Stallions and Bandipora XI.
To finalise preparations for the tournament, a meeting of team managers and representatives was held in Srinagar on Friday. The meeting discussed various aspects of the event, including the tournament format, player participation, match schedule and other arrangements.
The team representatives put forward their suggestions, which were welcomed by the organising committee. The organisers also expressed gratitude to the participating teams for supporting the promotion of cricket and encouraging young people to stay away from drugs by engaging them in sports activities.
Speaking on the occasion, President of the Organising Committee Gulzar Ahmad said the primary objective of the tournament is to provide teams with high-level competition while giving cricket fans an exciting spectacle.
“We are here to bring together top teams, top players and top fans. Everyone is invited and everyone is welcome to watch the matches at Bakshi Stadium. You are going to witness top-level competition featuring some of the best players from J&K as well as from outside the region,” he said.
Gulzar Ahmad said the tournament is likely to commence on September 7 or 8, with the final schedule expected to be announced shortly.
The J&K Super Cup is expected to provide a high-quality competitive platform for players while offering cricket enthusiasts an opportunity to watch some of the leading local talent in action at one of Srinagar’s premier sporting venues.
