Srinagar, Aug 27 (KNB): Former senior bureaucrat, politician and Commissioner of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Gazanfar Ali, passed away on Thursday night.
According to his family, Gazanfar Ali had suffered a major heart attack on May 18, 2026, following which he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, where he underwent treatment. He was later discharged from the hospital.
However, his condition reportedly deteriorated on Thursday, and he breathed his last at around 10:00 PM, leaving his family, friends, colleagues and well-wishers in deep shock and grief.
His demise has been widely mourned, with condolences pouring in from people who knew and worked with him.
