Srinagar 27 October (KNB): In a significant move, the Centre has notified land laws, paving the way for any citizen of India to buy land in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The government in its release stated that the order will be called the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Adaptation of Central Laws) Third Order, 2020.

The move has stirred a great disappointment and main regional parties like NC, PDP, Apni Party as well as Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration has denounced the new land laws.

Speaking to Kashmir News Bureau, General Secretary National Conference Ali Mohmmad Sagar said, “It is unacceptable and we will fight against this deceitful move by the government”.

Speaking to Kashmir News Bureau, J&K, Janta Dal United (JDU) President G N Shaheen said, “This new law is not good for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, this is only good for New Delhi. These new laws will not be accepted by the people of J&K in any way and will condemn it on any
stage”.

“After failing on all fronts to provide roti & rozgar to people, BJP is creating such laws to whet the appetite of a gullible electorate. Such brazen measures reinforces the need of people of all three provinces of J&K to fight unitedly,” Former Mehbooba Mufti said in a tweet.

“Unacceptable amendments to the land ownership laws of J&K. Even the tokenism of domicile has been done away with when purchasing non-agricultural land & transfer of agricultural land has been made easier. J&K is now up for sale & the poorer small land holding owners will suffer,” tweets Omar Abdullah

The Government of India Monday repealed a set of land laws of the erstwhile state of J&K by virtue of an order that allows anyone across India to buy land (except Agricultural land) in Jammu and Kashmir. (KNB)
