India Reports 48,698 Daily Covid-19 Cases; 1,183 Deaths

19,10,650 vaccine doses will be received by States/UTs within next 3 days



Srinagar 26 June (KNB): In last 24 hours, India reported 48,698 new novel coronavirus cases and 1,183 deaths due to infection, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday said.

As per the morning update from the Health Ministry, India’s active caseload has declined to 5,95,565 and has come down to less than 6 lakhs after 86 days. Active cases constitute 1.97 percent of total Covid-19 cases, they said.

Moreover, there have been 2,91,93,085 total recoveries across the country so far, out of which 64,818 patients recovered during last 24 hours, the Health Ministry said, adding that daily recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new Covid-19 cases for the 44th consecutive day.

The MoHFW said that the recovery rate has increased to 96.72 per cent and the weekly positivity rate has remained below 5 per cent, which currently stands at 2.97 per cent.

The daily positivity rate stands at 2.79 per cent which remains to be less than 5 per cent for 19 consecutive day, they added.

As per the Health Ministry, 31.50 Crore Vaccine doses has been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive and in the last 24 hours, 61.19 lakh vaccine doses were administered.

More than 31.17 crore (31,17,01,800) vaccine doses have been provided by Government of India to States/UTs so far, through Government of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category, officials said, adding that of this, the total consumption, including wastages is 29,71,80,733 doses (as per data available at 8 AM today).

As per the Health Ministry, more than 1.45 crore (1,45,21,067) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.

Furthermore, the Ministry said that more than 19,10,650 vaccine doses are in the pipeline and will be received by the States/UTs within the next 3 days.

The testing capacity has been substantially ramped up and the total tested conducted so far are 40.18 crore, they added. (KNB)
