India Records World’s Highest Single Day Spike in Covid Cases

Srinagar 23 April (KNB): Beating the record set yesterday, India recorded 3,32,730 novel coronavirus cases in last 24 hours, which marks the highest single-day spike in the world and reported 2,263 deaths.

Ministry Health and Family Welfare on Friday said that ten States including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan report 75.01% of the new cases.

Moreover, with 67,013 Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases followed by Uttar Pradesh with 34,254 while Kerala reported 26,995 new cases.

As per the Ministry the India’s total active caseload has reached 24,28,616, which now comprises 14.93% of the country’s total Positive Cases.

Officials said that the five States, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala cumulatively account for 59.12% of India’s total Active Cases.

Moreover, with 83.92% national recovery rate, India’s cumulative recoveries stand at 1,36,48,159 today and recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours were 1,93,279.

Furthermore, officials said that the National Mortality Rate currently stands at 1.15%.

2,263 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours across the nation, officials added.

As per the Ministry, Ten States account for 81.79% of the new deaths. With 568 deaths Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties, followed by Delhi with 306 daily deaths.

Pertinently, there is an everyday rise in Covid cases in India as on Wednesday 2,95,041 Covid cases were registered followed by 3,14,835 Covid-19 cases yesterday, i.e on Thursday. (KNB)
