Baramulla 10 Aug(KNB):while briefing press Commander of 7 sector told that based on specific human intelligence regarding presence of militants in higher reaches of rafiabad ,extensive large scale search operations were launched by security forces in jungles and adjoing areas with effect from 05 August 2018.
Security force’s continued the operation to locate and neutralize the militants in the area on 07 aug 2018 ,source’s indicated presence of terrorists in general area of lidder panzal based on this input a large scale search and destroy operation was launched .
On Aug 08 at about 1000 hours ,while carrying out search in the area our troops were fired upon by the hiding militants in the jungle. One soldier got injured and was evacuated to hospital by helicopter in the ensuring fire fight over several hours , security forces eliminated five heavily armed militants.
On detailed search operations of the area ,Four Ak47 rifles one pistol and a large amount of war like and sustenance store were recovered.Anaysis of the recovered items suggest that the group belonged to LET group.The group had probably infiltrated recently across the Line of Control from Pakistan occupied Kashmir.(KNB)
