Srinagar, May 16(KNB): Panic gripped the Karan Nagar area of Srinagar on Saturday after a fire broke out inside Sheikh-ul-Alam Hospital, with locals reporting blast-like sounds during the incident.
Eyewitnesses said patients rushed out of the hospital premises in panic as smoke spread through parts of the building. Hospital staff, civilians and Fire & Emergency Services personnel immediately launched evacuation efforts, helping patients and attendants move to safety.
Officials said one room was involved in the fire, while timely action by firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading further inside the hospital.
After bringing the fire under control, Fire & Emergency Services teams continued operations inside the hospital to clear smoke and sanitize the affected area so that normal functioning of the hospital could be restored. Officials on the spot said firefighting personnel were still present inside the hospital, ensuring all sections were safe and operational again.
No loss of life or injury was reported in the incident. (KNB)
