Srinagar 29 October (KNB): Family of one of the engineering students on Friday staged a protest at Press Enclave Srinagar seeking forgiveness of their son’s mistake, who was arrested in UP’s Agra along with two other students for alleged celebration of Pakistan’s win over India in a T20 match.
The father of one of the arrested engineering students said that his son, Showkat Ahmad Ganai, has been studying in Agra from a couple of years and was presently in his fourth and last semester. He said that Ganai was arrested after the Pakistan-India match last Sunday.
He said that they now ask for forgiveness for his son’s mistake. Gania’s father also appealed to the UP government to forgive whatever inadvertent mistake his son has committed.
Other family members of the arrested engineering student also appealed for Ganai’s release and among whom an elderly lady, apparently a grandmother of Ganai, also requested the LG Manoj Sinha to help in his release from confinement.
It is pertinent to mention that the arrest of three engineering students in Agra has been also widely criticised by political leaders in Kashmir. (KNB)
