Shopian 19 October (KNB): A gun-battle has started between militants and security forces in Melhura area of Zainapora tehsil of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
An official told KNB that a joint team of Police, army’s 55 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
The joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering a gun-battle, he said.As per the officials, It is believed that two to three militants are trapped in the ongoing encounter. (KNB)
