Kulgam 30 June (KNB): An encounter has raged between militants and government security forces on Wednesday in Chimmer area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Officials said that a cordon and search operation was launched in the area after specific intel about the presence of militants was received.
As the joint party of security forces approached the suspected spot, hiding militants opened fire and the encounter ensued, officials added.
Moreover, Jammu and Kashmir Police said, “Encounter started at Chimmer area of Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.” (KNB)
