Encounter Breaks out Between Forces, Militants in North Kashmir: Police

Srinagar 4 May (KNB): An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in North Kashmir’s Nathipora area of Sopore on Tuesday afternoon.

Officials said that Cordon and Search Operation was launched in the suspected area of Sopore by a joint team of Army, Police and CRPF. Later the searching parties were fired upon by the hidden militants, resulting in the triggering of the encounter. 

Police in this regard said that “Encounter has started at Nathipora area of Sopore. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”

However, in the ongoing encounter, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that one of the militants trapped is a foreign, who was involved in the attack on Councillors and cop in Sopore who later succumbed to their injuries. (KNB)
