ELFA in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha organises 2 back to back One Day Workshops on Whole School Safety Programme

Srinagar 14 Sep(KNB): ELFA International in collaboration with the Directorate of Samagra Shiksha J&K and UNICEF INDIA organized 2 back to back one-day training workshops for Master Trainers DNOs and DIET faculty members here at Hotel R K Sarovar Srinagar. The event was organized under the guidance of State Project Director Mr. Deep Raj Kanethia (JKAS) and attended by Mr. Mir Iftikhar, Sr. Vice President, ELFA International, Mr. Danish Aziz, Educational Specialist UNICEF, J&K, Mr. Syed Fayaz (Coordinator)), Samagra Shiksha. And Mr. Ajeet Sharma (State Coordinator) Samagra Shiksha. Around 117 Master trainers from various districts of Kashmir Division were trained on Jammu & Kashmir Whole School Safety Programme (WSSP)

Welcoming the guests, CEO ELFA International Mr. Mehran Khan appraised the participants and dignitaries of the essence and importance of the Whole School Safety Programme and the role of ELFA International in implementing the same. He also paid a vote of thanks to Samagra Shiksha and UNICEF for their untiring technical and logistic support. He also presented an encompassing picture of the components like DRR, WASH, MHM, MHPSS and others which are integral to Whole School Safety and the responsibility both government and individuals have to play in ensuring the implementation of all these components in letter and spirit.

Mr. Danish Aziz spoke of the technicalities and finer details of WSSP, while at the same time ensuring perennial support from UNICEF to programmes like these. He spoke at length about the evolution and unfurling of WSSP and its culmination into the present phase. Praising the endeavours and untiring efforts of ELFA International in making WSSP a reality and taking it from paper to ground, he applauded the entire crew of ELFA International, in particular

Mr. Syed Fayaz expressed his appraisal for the programme and the much-felt safety deficit vacuum it has filled in schools. He talked about the role of teachers in rolling out school safety programme across the UT of Jammu & Kashmir, he appreciated the work of ELFA International and shared that the organization has been a great support in formalizing the School Safety Programme at the UT level.

Mr. Ajeet Sharma spoke of the necessities of such programmes and their importance in ensuring school safety. He spoke of the growing sense and sensitivity among the stakeholders to the various aspects of school safety and the welcoming change of growing government response to these sensitivities by means of the enactment of programs like WSSP. While interacting with the participants he shared how he has witnessed the work of ELFA International and impact organization has created at all levels, he also facilitated the session on finalizing the School Safety Audit process and the questionnaire, he emphasized on the shared responsibility of all the stake holders in implementation of the Whole School Safety Programme, he also presented the vote of thanks

The trainings facilitated by team ELFA International, all the resource persons were from ELFA International and Samagra Shiksha, participants while sharing their feedback about the program shared that the training was very unique and one of its kinds they also thanked Samagra Shiksha officials, ELFA International and UNICEF for providing them this wonderful opportunity of attending the workshop, the event was coordinated by Mr. Mir Iftikhar, Mr.Syed Azhar, Mr. Sajad Mir, Ms Heena, Ms Areej Safvi, Mr. Zuain, Mr. Wahid Bin Qayoom, Mr. Amir Suhail Wani, Ms. Sabiya and Ms. Ushna Aseera, team members of ELFA International.(KNB)
