Awantipora 12 November (KNB): During vehicular checking by Police at village Kawani Awantipora, police intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK03-2890 and during search poppy straw (fukki) weighing about 12 kgs was recovered from the car which was concealed in gunny bag.
Officials stated that they arrested the person, identified as Ajaz Ahmad Manto r/o Waghama Bijbehara, who was carrying/transporting the consignment in the car.
The vehicle used in the commission of crime has been seized and case FIR No. 163/2020 under relevant sections of NDPS has been registered in Police Station Awantipora, officials stated.
Officials said that our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace. (KNB)
