Dr Suneem Khan urges LG, CM to intervene, stop ‘nuisance of reckless news reporting’ tarnishing people’s image

Srinagar 27 Jan(KNB): Dr Suneem Khan, the President of India’s Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak awardee, on Monday urged government to step in to stop ‘reckless news reporting’ terming it a ‘chaotic noise’ after a senior surgeons character was questioned by certain media outlets.

Dr Khan took to X, former twitter, urging LG Manoj Sinha and CM Omar Abdullah to take the situation seriously depicting how unscrupulous elements behaving as journalists are tarnishing image of respected citizens.

“On this note, @OfficeOfLGJandK and @CM_JnK are earnestly urged to step in and put an end to the nuisance of reckless news reporting, before this chaotic noise tears apart the fabric of sanity in society,” Khan wrote on X.

Dr Khan’s concerns were echoed by Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) as well, they said that a troubling trend of targeting doctors in Kashmir has emerged, taking a disturbing turn.
“Some social Media influencers, without verifying medical cases, are labeling them as “medical negligence/ Criminals ,” jeopardizing the reputation and even the safety of doctors,” they said.
DAK expressed their wholehearted support for Dr. Tahir Malik, a senior surgeon, amidst the unfortunate incident that has garnered media attention.
In a handout issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau-KNB, Dr. M.Y. Tak, President DAK, stated, “Media must never be used as a tool to malign the character of any doctor. Such incidents are regrettable, and the law must be allowed to take its own course. No doctor can ever intentionally harm their patient or jeopardize their own reputation. The challenges faced in surgery, particularly in exploring the abdomen—the so-called ‘magic box’—can be unpredictable and complex.”
Dr. Owvass H. Dar, General Secretary DAK, emphasized the association’s respect for the media fraternity, noting, “We hold journalists in high regard, as most of them are learned professionals who refrain from participating in media trials. However, it is disheartening to note that certain individuals are engaging in character assassination of the said doctor. We strongly urge media associations to intervene and uphold the principles of ethical journalism.”
DAK appeals to all stakeholders to ensure that justice is served and that the reputation of the medical profession is not tarnished by unfounded allegations. Let the law take its course without prejudice or undue influence.(KNB)
