Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Stands in Solidarity with Dr. Tahir Malik

Srinagar 27Jan(KNB): Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) expresses its wholehearted support for Dr. Tahir Malik, a senior surgeon, amidst the unfortunate incident that has garnered media attention.

In a handout issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau-KNB, Dr. M.Y. Tak, President DAK, stated, “Media must never be used as a tool to malign the character of any doctor. Such incidents are regrettable, and the law must be allowed to take its own course. No doctor can ever intentionally harm their patient or jeopardize their own reputation. The challenges faced in surgery, particularly in exploring the abdomen—the so-called ‘magic box’—can be unpredictable and complex.”

Dr. Owvass H. Dar, General Secretary DAK, emphasized the association’s respect for the media fraternity, noting, “We hold journalists in high regard, as most of them are learned professionals who refrain from participating in media trials. However, it is disheartening to note that certain individuals are engaging in character assassination of the said doctor. We strongly urge media associations to intervene and uphold the principles of ethical journalism.”

DAK appeals to all stakeholders to ensure that justice is served and that the reputation of the medical profession is not tarnished by unfounded allegations. Let the law take its course without prejudice or undue influence.(KNB)
