Srinagar 30 January (KNB): Manoj Sinha, who was appointed as the second Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir on 6 August 2020, has been instrumental in the various developmental works and the other plans in J&K from taking his charge till the present time.
Following the resignation of the first Governor of J&K, the newly appointed LG Sinha had made it clear that his priority in J&K is peace and development. While he had also maintained that he would encourage development works instead of just announcing the things which he proved by his active role in implementing the plan and projects and giving out different packages.
With Manoj Sinha taking reins of Union Territory of J&K as Lieutenant Governor, a Rs 1350 crore package announced by him, almost a month later since his appointment, to boost the business sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
LG’s commitment towards the development of J&K and its betterment was also reflected in his announcement of an industrial development scheme worth Rs 28,400 crore for the UT in January 2021.
In last December, Manoj Sinha e-inaugurated Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training (CIIIT) established at the cost of Rs 181.57 crore at Government Polytechnic College, Baramulla. While the step was aimed at providing skill training to the students of Engineering Colleges and budding engineers of other institutions.
To make J&K region sufficient in power, Manoj Sinha signed MoUs between J&K PDD, NHPC Ltd. and J&K PDC for implementation of Mega Hydro Power projects, including 850 MW Ratle HEP and 930 MW Kirthai-II HEP, besides execution of long pending Sawalkote HEP (1856 MW), Uri-I (Stage-II) (240 MW) and Dulhasti (Stage-II) (258 MW).
Sinha approved the adoption of Jammu & Kashmir Industrial Land Allotment Policy, 2021-30 in January 2021 to address various land-related issues hampering industrial development in J&K. He also approved the adoption of J&K PWD Engineering Manual, 2020, which aimed to keep pace with the current engineering needs in line with existing practices and procedures to ensure transparency and perfection in engineering.
LG inaugurated Experience Centre cum Sales Outlet of Jammu Kashmir Industries Ltd worth Rs 6.5 crores in winter capital in December last year aimed to increase the sales of manufactured goods produced by JKI and would help in making the organization a feasible and beneficial entity.
He also launched Mobile Application ‘Satark Nagrik’ and Departmental Vigilance Officers Portal of J&K Anti Corruption Bureau at Jammu Civil Secretariat this month, aiming to ensure hasslefree information about corruption and help the citizens to submit their concerns and issues.
Manoj Sinha gave a breather to the J&K’s unemployed youths when he announced an employment plan to fill 25,000 vacant posts. Not to keep away from making statements related to unemployment, the LG had assured last year that unemployment would end in the next 5 years in the UT.
LG also launched a youth livelihood ‘Mumkin’ initiative in November 2020 which was intended to generate employment opportunities for the youths of J&K. During which he distributed subsidized small commercial vehicles among young ten beneficiaries from across the UT.
Sinha also approved in 2020 the promotion and regularisation of Police officers at SP and DSP level who were over 550 in number.
To keep rumours and speculations from spreading in the valley, Sinha cleared the people of J&K from one of such rumours last year that Property Tax would not be levied on the residents of J&K which had suddenly taken aback the people.
While the announcement related to development and peace kept coming from LG when he announced in December last year that the centre would invest Rs 30,000 crore in J&K in the next three months.
However, a much-needed relief to the power customers in Kashmir from LG came when he inaugurated e-Customer Care Centre of Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) at Bemina, helping in to receive the queries related to electricity and redress the consumer’s power issues.
Similarly, Lt Governor has met number of delegations who put forth various issues concerning the youth, societal, economical, political & developmental issues.
Manoj Sinha assured that innovative measures will be taken to ensure development of sporting & educational sector, revival of J&K’s economy, development of tourism sector & religious circuits and much more.
Moreover, with Khelo India winter games and many more sports events with the help of administration, army and police, certainly assure the indulgence of youth into realm of activities that uplift mental and physical health.(KNB)
