DGP J&K Reserves Special Hours for Direct Citizen Grievance Meetings

Srinagar,12 November(KNB): The Jammu and Kashmir Police have announced a new initiative for grievance redressal. The Director General of Police (DGP) has designated every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 1400 to 1600 hours, for citizens to meet and discuss their grievances at the Police Headquarters in J&K, Jammu.

The decision comes as a response to an increasing number of citizens approaching the Police Headquarters without prior appointments, leading to difficulties in meeting the DGP.

The police in a statement to the news agency Kashmir News Bureau-KNB, emphasized that the dedicated hours aim to facilitate smoother interactions between citizens and the police administration.

To streamline the process further, the DGP has requested that individuals seeking redressal bring a written statement or application with them.

This move is expected to enhance the efficiency of addressing grievances and provide a structured platform for communication.

The statement also highlighted the importance of citizens approaching junior officers in the concerned police units first, as they hold the original mandate to address such issues.

Directly approaching the DGP without giving the field officers an opportunity to resolve the grievances was deemed an unhealthy practice.

Consequently, priority will be given to those who have approached field police units, yet find their concerns unresolved.-KNB
