Covid19: Lockdown Eases With Fresh Guidelines From District Administration

Srinagar 31 May (KNB): Following the announcement of easing of lockdown restrictions by the J&K government on Sunday, the Srinagar District Administration issued guidelines on Covid19 containment in Summer capital by giving permission to shopkeepers to function after showing Covid vaccination certificates and easing the way for transporters to ply with 50% seating capacity.   

Srinagar District Administration has ordered that private hospitals, nursing homes and clinics to operate normally and has included it in the permissible activities category falling outside the containment zones. With that the order also said that E-commerce and courier services to function normally. 

If further added that standalone shops of all types shall be allowed to open only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. whereas as outdoor Bazaars and outdoor shopping complexes shall be allowed to operate on Mondays and Thursdays starting from Monday i.e., 31-05-2021 in following manner:

Shops on one side of the road only shall open on a particular day/date, the other side shall remain closed completely, the sequence of opening shall be on Rotation basis, this guideline is for markets having shops on both sides of the road, as per order. 

Whereas the markets with shops on one side of the road, the odd numbered shops will open on Mondays and even number shops will open on Thursdays, the order said.

However, the order further reads that Barber shops/ Salons/ Beauty parlours shall be allowed to operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Furthermore the restaurants will be allowed to operate on all days except on Saturdays and Sundays only for home delivery of orders and room service of residents. “No entry of customers shall be permitted even for self take-away of orders,” the orders read. 

The religious and social gathering such as marriages shall be permitted with the attendance of up to 25 persons only, whether indoor and outdoor and funeral/last rites shall be attended by up to only 20 persons only, as per the order.  

According to the order, the vaccination certificates should be displayed by shopkeepers in front of the shops and the same should be pasted on the windshields of the vehicles by the drivers of the public transport. 

However, the order further said that the schools and coaching centres should remain closed and lockdown shall remain in force in containment zones. 

The order also said that all Universities, Colleges, Technical/ Skill development institutes in J&K shall remain closed for imparting in-person/ on-campus education to the students till 15-06-2021, except for the courses that require physical presence of students on account of laboratory/ research/ thesis work and internship etc. 

“Cinema halls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars, auditoriums, assembly halls and similar places will remain closed,” the order reads. 

It is pertinent to mention that as per order there shall be daily night curfew from 8:00 PM to 7:00 AM next day. Further there shall be weekend curfew w.e.f 8:00 PM each Friday till 7:00 AM each Monday. (KNB)
