Commissioner Secretary Science and Technology visits MNRE

New Delhi 10 Feb(KNB): The Commissioner Secretary Science and Technology Department Saurabh Bhagat (IAS), visited the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), GoI, New Delhi to discuss the modalities for implementation of the newly launched Biogas.

Programme of MNRE under the Umbrella scheme of National Bio Energy Programme for F.Y. 2021-22 to 2025- 26- (Phase-I) in J&K. During the visit, Sh Saurabh Bhagat held one to one discussions with Sh. S. R. Meena, Incharge Bioenergy, MNRE to explore the possibilities of setting up of one Bioenergy Pilot Project each in Jammu and Kashmir regions of the UT. Pertinent to mention here that the National Bioenergy Programme comprises the following sub-schemes; i. Waste to Energy Programme (Programme on Energy from Urban, Industrial and Agricultural Wastes /Residues) ii. Biomass Programme (Scheme to Support Manufacturing of Briquettes & Pellets and Promotion of Biomass (non-bagasse) based cogeneration in Industries. iii. Biogas Programme.

The Commissioner/Secretary also met Sh. Hiren Bora, incharge Rooftop Solar Division, MNRE and updated the Ministry with the progress of implementation of the 20 MW and 200 MW cumulative capacities Rooftop Solar sanctions of MNRE and stressed for timely release of Central Financial Assistance (CFA) under the schemes. During the discussions the Ministry was also updated on the challenges and impediments faced by JAKEDA in implementation of the schemes and requested the Ministry for allowing empanelment of more vendors under the two sanctions as the targets to be achieved are huge.
