Srinagar 5 August (KNB): Former Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti along with party workers took to the streets of Srinagar on Thursday demanding revocation of August 5, 2019 decision of abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.

Raising slogans, such as ‘Cowards take the decision back’, ‘decision of 5th of August won’t work’,’ Solve Kashmir dispute’ and many more, PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti demanded the Centre to stop the bloodshed in Kashmir as well as set free all those political prisoners under detention.

While protesting, PDP workers along with Mehbooba also demanded the restoration of the Jammu and Kashmir’s flag.

Moreover, as she led the march, the protestors were stopped by the security forces, during which, Mehbooba asked, “Do we have any weapons in our hands because of which you are stopping us?”

Furthermore, while talking to media persons, she said, “Today is the day of mourning for the residents of Jammu and Kashmir. All of us are mourning today because of the era of oppression and brutality which was started by the BJP led Government on August 5th of 2019.”

“It is regrettable that the BJP is celebrating the occasion across the country while the people of Jammu and Kashmir are grieving it,” she said.

Mehbooba told reporters that people are being detained, shopkeepers are being threatened with their leases being cancelled if they do not throw their shops open.

They are making Auto rickshaws to commute here and there, so that the ‘Godi Media’ they have sent here to show normalcy, she added.

Mehbooba said, “Our youth in thousands are still detained under UAPA and many have been called to police stations and put behind bars during these few days and told after the day (5th Aug) passes then they will be set free.”

“This brutality, oppression won’t work and we protest against it and will keep on resisting it,” she said, adding, “Our existence can only be established when we all together through legal means compel the Government India to resolve the Kashmir issue. They must talk to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to address the internal as well as external dimensions, they must talk to Pakistan. There is no other way!”

Mehbooba said that they (India) have already talked to Pakistan because of which infiltration has decreased. “PDP Believes that Jammu and Kashmir must become a bridge of peace between India and Pakistan.”

Moreover, earlier during the day, Mehbooba took to his Twitter handle and said, “No words or pictures are enough to depict the pain, torment & upheaval inflicted upon J&K on this black day two years ago. When unbridled oppression is unleashed & gross injustice heaped there is no other choice but to resist to exist.” (KNB)
