2nd Anniversary of Scrapping of Art 370: Most Shops Remain Closed in Srinagar

Srinagar 05 August (KNB): On the second anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, as most of the shops remain closed in the Srinagar city, police have been seen forcing the shopkeepers to keep their shops open.

Reporters covering the ground situation in Lal Chowk said that they saw police prising apart the locks of the shops that were closed on Thursday.

It was said that the police were arm-twisting some of the present shopkeepers into opening the shops, which the owners of the shops resisted.

Some of the reporters also said that they were being chased away by police at some spots in Srinagar while trying to cover the situation on the ground.

However, there was no strike call given by the separatists but despite that most of the shops were seen closed and miniscule traffic was seen plying on the roads. (KNB)
