Srinagar 02 June (KNB): Rakesh Pandita a BJP leader has been shot dead by some suspected militants on Wednesday evening in South Kashmir’s Tral, as per an official.
He was a Kashmiri pandit and was the chairman of Municipal Committee Tral. As per the official, Pandita was in Tral following the death of his relative there almost a week ago.
However, a police official said that Pandita was provided two PSOs and accommodation in Srinagar, but he had visited Tral without the guards.
Furthermore, the BJP official said that the party condemns the attack on the deceased leader and seeks for an investigation in the killing of the Pandita.
However, police in this regard said that “Militants shot dead one councillor namely Rakesh Pandita in Tral. Despite provided 02 PSOs & secured hotel accommodation in Srinagar, the said councillor went to Tral without PSOs. Area cordoned off & search is going on.” (KNB)
