BJP Clarifies Viral Video, Says Man Seen in Alleged Molestation Incident Not Associated With Party

Srinagar, September 3 (KNB): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday clarified that the individual seen allegedly molesting a woman during a protest at Hari Singh High Street, Srinagar, in a viral video is not associated with the party.

In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau that BJP J&K State Co-media Incharge Adv. Sajid Yousuf Shah said the information had been cross-checked with multiple sources and it was established that the individual visible in the video has no association with the BJP.

Shah said that during large public gatherings, unidentified and unaffiliated individuals can also join protests, adding that their presence cannot be attributed to or linked with the organisers or the BJP.

“We strongly condemn the incident,” the BJP leader said, adding that efforts are underway to identify the individual involved in the incident as well as the portals that allegedly revealed the woman’s face.

He said that once identified, the matter should be allowed to take its own course in accordance with the law.

The BJP also urged people to refrain from circulating unverified information or falsely attributing the actions of an individual to the party.

“During large public gatherings, many unidentified and unaffiliated individuals may join the protest. The presence of such individuals cannot be attributed to or linked with the organisers or the BJP,” Shah said. (KNB)
