Awantipora, November 6 (KNB): Awantipora Police on Friday organised a debate competition on the theme “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” at Government Higher Secondary School, Gulzargora, as part of its efforts to raise awareness about drug abuse among students.
The programme was attended by police officers from Police District Awantipora, along with teachers and other staff members of the school.
Students took part in the competition and shared their views on the harmful effects of drug abuse and its impact on individuals, families and society. They also stressed the need for awareness, prevention, parental guidance and community participation to tackle the growing problem of substance abuse.
The competition provided students an opportunity to express their views and highlighted the role of young people in building a drug-free society.
The first three position holders were awarded cash prizes and certificates for their performance, while refreshments were also served to the participants.
Awantipora Police said it would continue organising such awareness programmes in educational institutions to sensitise students and encourage their participation in the fight against drug abuse.(KNB)
