Srinagar 19 February (KNB): Three militants belonging to the Al-Badr outfit were killed in an overnight encounter in South Kashmir’s Shopian district, said the Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar during the wreath laying ceremony of Altaf Ahmad who was killed in an Budgam encounter.
IGP said that the late night encounter in Shopian resulted in the killing of three militants of Al-Badr who are all inhabitants of Kashmir.
The encounter in Shopian’s Badigam area had started after the cordon and search operation was carried out by the security forces and the police.
However, the police on Friday also confirmed the encounter by tweeting that “03 unidentified militants killed. Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition recovered. Search going on. Further details shall follow.” (KNB)
