Srinagar 20 January (KNB): Ahead of snow/rain prediction by the Meteorological department on this weekend in J&K, the night temperature remains above freezing point at most places of Kashmir.
As the MeT official has already predicted snowfall/rainfall in J&K during the 22nd and 23rd of this month, most places of the valley continue to record night temperatures above the freezing point.
The temperature in Srinagar last night was recorded at 2.2 degrees Celsius with mercury settling last night in Kupwara, Qazigund and Konibal at 1.2 degrees Celsius, 0.7 degrees Celsius and 1.6 degrees Celsius respectively.
North Kashmir’s tourist resort Gulmarg’s temperature increased from -6.0 degrees C to -5.0 degrees C last night and in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam, the temperature settled at -0.6 degrees C on last night as compared to -1.9 on the previous night.
Meanwhile, temperatures recorded in Kokernag was minus 0.1 degrees celsius and minus 9.0 degrees Celsius in Leh.
However, MeT officials have already said that they are expecting rain/snow during 22nd-23rd of January with mainly dry weather from 24 onwards. (KNB)
