Srinagar 28 March(KNB): President of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference (JKPC), Sajad Lone, hits out a National conference, shedding light on the harrowing realities faced by Kashmiris over the past three decades.
In a statement posted on X, lone divided the Kashmiris into two stark categories, the Victor and the Victim
Lone delineated the VICTOR as the ruling class, who wielded power mercilessly, ordering killings, pellet gun firings, arrests, encounters, and employing draconian measures such as Public Safety Acts (PSAs). He accused them of rigging elections, persecuting dissenters, and incarcerating even the family members of those on their hit list, leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of maintaining control over the region.
Highlighting the grim aftermath of their reign, Lone lamented the proliferation of special graveyards in every village, where the VICTIMS of the VICTORS lay to rest. These VICTIMS, he asserted, were none other than the common Kashmiri, subjected to a litany of atrocities including killings, torture, arbitrary arrests, blindness, disabilities, widowhood, and orphanhood.
Lone posed a poignant question: Is the National Conference the VICTIM or the VICTOR in this tumultuous narrative? With his words resonating across the region, the statement serves as a stark reminder of the enduring scars borne by the Kashmiri populace, while also reigniting debates about the roles and responsibilities of political entities in shaping the destiny of the embattled valley.(KNB)
