10 Dead after Passenger Cab Plunges into Gorge in Ramban

Ramban 29 March(KNB): At least ten people lost their lives when a passenger cab veered off the road and plummeted into a deep gorge near the Battery Chashma area of Ramban district along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. 

As per the reports reached to news agency Kashmir News Bureau-KNB that, the accident occurred in the early hours of Friday morning, as the vehicle traveled from Jammu to Srinagar went out of the driver’s control and dropped into a gorge near the Battery Chashma in Ramban district late Thursday evening.

Rescue operations were swiftly launched as teams from the local police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and civil Quick Response Team (QRT) of Ramban responded to the emergency.

The bodies of 10 passengers have been recovered amid heavy rains, the officials said.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Balwan Singh, aged 47, from Amb Ghrotha in Jammu, and Vipin Mukhiya Bhairagang from West Champaran in Bihar, were among those who perished in the accident. (KNB)
