1 Kg narcotics seized at Poonch’s Mankote area: J&K Police

J&K 15 October (KNB): Jammu and Kashmir police has seized a kilogram of narcotics (heroine like substances) during a night raid at Mankote area of Mendhar in Poonch district, officials said.

An official told Kashmir News Bureau (KNB) that during the intervening night of 14/15 October, a police party headed by SDPO Mendhar Zaheer Abbas Jafri assisted by SHO P/S Mendhar  Manzoor Kohli established a checkpoint at Mankote after a specific information about drug trafficking was received.

“During checking, a suspicious person was intercepted and as he attempted to escape the checkpoint, the police party successfully apprehended him and after the search were able to seize narcotics (heroin like substance) which was later weighed as 1 kg,” a police officer said.
 

Adding that the accused was arrested on the spot.

The police officer told KNB, “In this regards case FIR No.243 /20 under relevant sections of law has been registered at police Station Mendhar and further investigation is going on”.

The officials also stated that the delivery of this consignment from across the border can’t be ruled out and police is investigating all links. (KNB)
