Srinagar,November 6 (KNB): In a new Development, With the election of Junaid Azim Mattu ,Former National conference Spokesperson as Mayor of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC)on Tuesday, the wait finally came to end.
As a candidate of People’s Conference, Mattu had filed his nomination for the election to the post of Mayor and after getting 40 votes out of 74 votes was declared as the Mayor of SMC.
The game of Mayorship has been going around ever since the result of the recent ULB elections had been declared. The parties claiming their candidates to be the Mayor, the level of curiosity was all over to the next level. Each party playing their own political and mind games, vouched for their candidates.
If the sources are to be believed, the main man behind all this Mayor ship hustle or the brain behind all this is said to be Yasir Reshi, MLC People’s Democratic Party (PDP) .
Earlier, Yasir Reshi was removed as president of Sumbal Constituency as the consequence of his statement against the then Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti.
“Now that Yasir Reshi played an important role in the formation of the Mayor, which is predicted to be a big loss for PDP,” said a political expert.
Important to know that, Yasir played a vital role in assembly elections in Sumbal Constituency. (KNB)
