World Cancer Day 2021: What, When & Why

Srinagar 04 February (KNB): World Cancer Day, which is observed across the world on February 4th every year to spread the information related to the most life-consuming disease ‘Cancer’, was witnessed throughout the country on Thursday.

To make people aware about the cancer and clear the doubts, rumours related to the disease and reduce its impact on the globe, the world observes Cancer Day on February 4th annually.

The theme of 2021 World Cancer Day “I AM and I Will” — is about each person and their personal commitment to reduce the impact of cancer — which is being carried out from year 2019.

General Director of UNESCO, the then French President had signed the Charter of Paris Against Cancer on February 4th 2000 and has been observed since then.

Meanwhile, today different hospitals and private clinics across the country observed World Cancer Day to disseminate information and spread awareness related to the disease and coordinate their efforts in dealing with this perilous disease.

Pertinently, Cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells divide uncontrollably and destroy body tissue. (KNB)
