World Blood donors day celebrated at GMC Baramulla and Associated Hospital.

“Donating blood is an act of solidarity.Join efforts and save lives.”

Baramulla 14 June (KNB): The Department of Hematology & Transfusion Medicine GMC Baramulla organised a blood donation camp to celebrate World Blood Donors day. The camp was inaugurated by the Principal Dr(Prof) Ruby Reshi.

The Principal at very first thanked the voluntary blood donors and encouraged to participate in the community based activities. She advised the concerned quarters to organise such camps in rural areas to encourage, motivate and to create public awareness of the need for voluntary unpaid blood donations. To encourage blood donation among faculty and staff members of the institute Principal herself donated first.

She further stressed for the establishment of Rare blood group directory to promptly tackle the emergency/acute needs in order to save human lives.

Head Department of pathology and transfusion medicine talked on the importance of transfusion transmitted infections . Heads of the department of surgery and medicine talked on various issues related to indications and uses of blood in various clinical conditions.
