Srinagar 8 March (KNB): Every year, International Women’s Day is observed on 8th of March to celebrate women, their contribution towards building a successful society and more importantly to get together in the fight against gender bias and inequality.
The theme for Women’s Day 2021 is ‘Choose To Challenge’, which indicates that every one of us, through our voice and actions can challenge against and call out gender bias and inequality in our societies, which would lead towards a change.
About the theme, IWD official website said that this year, we can all choose to challenge everything that has been holding us back, and become better allies.
Celebrating IWD, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi tweeted, “Saluting our Indomitable #NariShakri on International Women’s Day! India takes pride in the many accomplishments of the women of our nation. It is our Government’s honour to be getting the opportunity to work towards furthering women empowerment across wide range of sectors.”
Moreover, Kashmir News Bureau received messages from women across the world celebrating the special day.
Nuzhat Gul, Secretary Sports Council, said that God has given a special status to the women.
Women are the driving power of the world and there is a much need to empower them in our societies, She said, adding that aim of the IWD will only be met when all women will be treated equally.
A public speaker from Kashmir, Munaza Shala said that women are the core section of the society and when we empower women, we empower our society.
“We need to understand that women should not be left out. They have the right to work, education, speak and to make their own decisions,” she said.
Parveena Azad, a famous Kashmiri singer, while wishing the women around the world on the day, said that women can compete on any front now, achieve anything that was ever seen as a difficult task.
Women have been successful in many fields along with taking care, as well as, maintain a strong bond between the members of their families, she said, adding that more support needs to shown towards the women of the world.(KNB)
