Srinagar, 14 Nov (KNB): A woman was arrested yesterday along with 20 grenades from Lawaypora area of Srinagar outskirts.
According to the reports, last night the government forces raided the residence of the woman at Ganaie Mohalla in Khunmoh on Srinagar city outskirts and arrested the two brothers of the woman who has been identified as Asiya Jan.
A police officer confirmed that the two brothers of Asiya have been detained by forces for questioning at Khanmoh on Tuesday night. The arrested brothers have been identified as Hilal Ahmad and Mohammad Iqbal.
A police officer said,“ “On Tuesday Police got information that some OGW is coming from Baramulla towards Srinagar with ammunition, a naka was laid opposite Kirmaniabad shrine near Lawaypora.”
Meanwhile, a golden colored Chevrolet Tavera car (JK01M-0056) was stopped for checking, and a woman was searched by lady police personnel present at the naka, he added.
A bag of her belonging was searched from which 20 grenades along with a large cache of ammunition were recovered, he said.
Police have seized the vehicle and the bag containing grenades and the woman has been detained and taken to women’s Police station for further questioning, he added. (KNB)
