Srinagar 06 December (KNB): Residents of Rakhi Aarth, Bamina, staged a protest on Monday at Press Enclave here against the lack of basic amenities in their area, causing them severe problems.

The protestors told the reporters that they were earlier residing in Dal Lake, following which the government shifted them to the Rakhi Aarth area of Bemina for permanent abodes.

The demands put forward by the protesters were the provision of electricity, water, graveyard, school and others, which they claim were not provided to them since their shifting to Rakhi Aarth, Bemina in 2011.

“We would not budge from here until our demands are not fulfilled. Our children are not able to go to school due to the absence of it in our area,” said one of the protesters, adding that for some of their demands, the LCMA department’s doors were also knocked but to no avail.

They said that no one had been listening to them, which compelled the residents of Rakhi Aarth to converge towards the press enclave along with ladies and children to voice their demands. (KNB)  (KNB)
