Srinagar 2 February (KNB): A lady name withheld from central Kashmir’s Budgam district was detected with four babies at MED AGE Infertility Centre and Gynae Solutions in Bemina, Srinagar after going through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) following her complications in conceiving a child in fourteen years.
MED AGE, which is ICMR confirmed and ISO certified IVF centre, where the lady was detected with four babies — under the supervision of Dr Syed Sajjad Hussain — after 13 days from the transfer of blastocyst into her uterus.
The lady, who was detected with four babies is around 39 years old, and her spouse is 42 years old, was one among the other patients in the batch of December 2020 who had gone through IVF.
While talking to Kashmir News Bureau, infertility specialist Dr Sajjad said “In blastocyst hatching, we confirm after 13 days by doing a beta hCG test, who has got pregnant and who has not. With the similar procedure, we had expected that the lady would be conceived with two babies, but with the grace of God she developed two sets of identical twins, after the splitting of transferred 2 blastocysts, among them one was weak and may carry ahead only triplet.”
However, Dr Sajjad said that the chance of a single embryo dividing and resulting in identical twins is higher after IVF than after natural conception, developing the possibility of ending up with identical twins from a single transferred embryo.
“In the last batch one Kashmiri Pandit couple, who after a lot of quests to get their child, had conceived twin babies from the procedure applied at the MED AGE centre,” said Dr Sajjad.
He said that in one of the cases a lady had gone through two IVF in Delhi and Chandigarh and had got no results. “Later she had approached the MED AGE centre and delivered two twins in the first attempt following the application of a procedure,” said Dr Sajjad. (KNB)
