With Over 3.79 Lakh Covid-19 Cases in 24 Hours, India Records Sharpest Sharpest Spike Since Beginning of Pandemic

Srinagar 29 April (KNB): With 3,79,257 new Covid-19 cases India recorded the sharpest spike in cases since the beginning of the pandemic. With 3,645 deaths reported, the total death toll reached 2.04 lakh.

As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, more than 21 lakh vaccination doses were administered in the last 24 hours and that 2,69,507 Covid-19 recoveries were registered as well.

Officials said that the cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 15 Cr.

Moreover, they said, “India’s total Active Caseload has reached 30,84,814. It now comprises 16.79% of the country’s total Positive Cases. A net incline of 1,06,105 cases recorded from the total active caseload in the last 24 hours.”

Earlier, the United States deployed the first of several emergency COVID-19 relief shipments to India.

U.S officials said, “the shipment includes 440 oxygen cylinders and regulators, generously donated by the State of California and in addition, on this first flight, USAID will send 960,000 Rapid Diagnostic Tests to identify infections early to help prevent the community spread of COVID-19, and 100,000 N95 masks to protect India’s frontline healthcare heroes.”

In another new, The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a Level 4 Travel Health Notice and the Department of State has issued a Level 4 Travel Advisory advising against all travel to India.

Officials stated, “The current Level 4 Travel Advisory is the highest level issued by the Department of State and advises U.S. citizens not to travel to India or to leave as soon as it is safe to do so due to the current health situation in country.” (KNB)
