Srinagar, Feb 22 (KNB): Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising of Syed Ali Geelani Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik on Thursday staged protest against the rape and murder of eight-yrs-old Kathua minor girl Asifa and demanded capital punishment for the accused policeman Deepak Khajuria.
According to reports, JKLF Chief, Muhammad Yasin Malik along with JRL leaders and activists assembled at Abi Guzar area and addressed the gathering while Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressed the gathering via telephone.
Malik speaking on the occasion said that the Jammu Muslims won’t be left alone. “The Joint Resistance Leadership resolves to fight for the justice to Asifa. We demand all the accused should be hanged,” he said.
Pertinently, a rally was taken out by the Hindu Ekta Manch in Jammu, demanding the release of Special Police Officer Deepak Khajuria, who was arrested last week in connection with the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua district in January. The protestors raised Indian national flags in demonstration.
Meanwhile, scores of activist from different organizations also held a sit-in at Pratap Park Srinagar, demanding capital punishment to guilty in Asifa rape and murder case. (KNB)
