Pakistani troops target Indian posts, firing in Bandipora

Srinagar, Feb 22 (KNB): Pakistani troops today fired at Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, prompting Indian soldiers to retaliate, an Army official said. While as an army commando was injured in a gunfight with militants in Bandipora.

The Pakistani troops opened unprovoked firing at Indian posts in the Hajipeer area of the Uri sector in Baramulla district this morning, the official said.

He said Indian soldiers are retaliating the aggression from across the LoC effectively and in equal measure.

Meanwhile an army commando was on Thursday injured in a gunfight with militants, in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir, sources said.

Security forces launched a counter-insurgency operation in the Hajin area of Bandipora on Thursday morning following information about the presence of four militants there, the sources.

As the troops were laying a cordon in the area, the militants opened indiscriminate fire at them and fled the spot.

One army commando of 31 Rashtriya Rifles was injured in the firing, the sources said. (KNB)
