Two HM Militants Killed in Awantipora Encounter

Srinagar 20 August (KNB): Two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit have been killed by security forces in the encounter in South Kashmir’s Awantipora on Friday, as per police.    

Police on Friday said that one more militant has been killed in the Awantipora encounter and incriminating material has been recovered. 

As one of the militants was already killed in the encounter, the total toll took to two after the killing of another militant. “This was a hit squad of HM responsible for civilian killings in South Kashmir,” said police quoting IGP-K Vijay Kumar. 

However, the identity of IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that one of the militants has been identified as Musaib Mushtaq, a resident of Khrew. He was involved in the killing of Javid Ahmad Malik at Lurgam, as per IGP-K. 

He further said that another slain militant’s identification is being ascertained. 

However, the searches were going on after the killing of a second militant, as per police. (KNB)
