Srinagar 08 October (KNB): Govt of J&K on Friday gave accord to the constitution of Project Monitoring Committee (PMC), regarding providing of technical and financial support for the restoration of the Mughal Gardens — Shalimar and Nishat Bagh (Srinagar).
A government order reads that “Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of a Project Monitoring Committee (PMC), comprising of the following, for guiding and facilitating the processes, permissions, interdepartmental coordination and works for the protection, preservation, promotion and development of the Mughal Gardens of Shalimar and Nishat Bagh in terms of the MoU with M/s Jindal Steel Works Foundation.”
The PMC would be headed by Commissioner/Secretary to the government, Department of Floriculture, Parks and Gardens as its chairman. The committee would also have five members — Representative of Department of Culture (not below the rank of Additional Secretary); Ashwani Sexena, CEO, JSW Foundation; Sandeep Gokhale, Project Management Expert; Director Archive, Archeology and Museums,J&K and Prof. Mohammad Yousuf Ganai, HOD, History, University of Kashmir.
The order writes about the terms of reference which includes;
To facilitate smooth and timely functioning of the Project and facilitate inter-departmental and intra-governmental coordination, approvals from the Local and Statutory bodies, and help with all necessary support for approvals from the Administration.
To review the Initial Assessment Reports as well as Conservation Plans (Detailed Project Reports) to set priorities, timelines and sequence of tasks which will identify as well as establish a methodology for implementation.
To oversee and Monitor the works to be carried out on the Project, according to the standards and methodologies established for the Project and presented in the reports. (KNB)
