Three Militants Killed in Shopian Encounter; Two Army Personnel Injured, Operation On

Srinagar 8 April (KNB): Three militants have been killed and two army personnel were injured in the ongoing gun-battle at Jan Mohalla area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Official said that during the encounter at Shopian Town, three unidentified militants have been killed so far and the operation is still going on.

They added that two army personnel sustained injuries and were rushed to 92 Base hospital for treatment.

Moreover, officials also said that Chief of militant outfit AGuH (JeM) is trapped at the encounter site.

Earlier, officials told Kashmir News Bureau that on basis of specific information about the presence of militants, joint team of Police, 44 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Jan Mohalla.

Officials said that when forces reached the suspected spot, militants opened fire upon them which was retaliated, triggering off the encounter. (KNB)
