Srinagar, May 2 (KNB): Security forces achieved a significant success after busting a terrorist hideout in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, recovering a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosive material during an operation on Friday.
Officials said the hideout was unearthed during a search operation in the Chatroo area, particularly in the dense forests of Bajmandoo in Sigdi Bhata. The site is believed to have been used by a terrorist commander who had been Killed earlier by security forces.
During the operation, forces recovered a range of war-like stores, including a carbine gun, a pistol, and an Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) along with a rocket. In addition, several rounds of live ammunition of different calibres, detonators, communication devices such as radio sets, and around one kilogram of explosive material were also seized from the spot.
The recovery is seen as a major blow to militant infrastructure in the region, as it prevented the possible use of these weapons for subversive activities. The operation also highlights the continued vigilance and coordinated efforts of security forces in countering terrorism in the hilly and forested areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and security, stating that such intelligence-based operations will continue to dismantle terrorist networks across the region.(KNB)
